Voted Best Gin In Africa & Gold Winner – The Gin Awards 2026
Alvearium Distilled Mead Gin has been awarded Gold and named Best in Africa at The Gin Guide Awards 2026—one of the world’s largest and most respected gin competitions, judged against hundreds of entries from 36 countries.
This recognition places Alvearium among the highest-performing gins globally, while also achieving the top score of all African entries—a distinction that reflects both its consistency and its standing on the international stage.
Crafted from wild Zambian honey, Alvearium continues to demonstrate that ingredient choice and process matter. From forest-sourced raw material to a considered distillation approach, every step contributes to a spirit that is both technically accomplished and deeply rooted in origin.
These awards build on a growing body of recognition, including the Sustainability award from the Luxury Lifestyle awards, Master Medal at the Global Gin Masters and Platinum at the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards—reinforcing a clear and consistent standard.
Alvearium is not an exception.
It is a signal of what is possible.
Alvearium Gin, Sustainably Crafted for Indulgence
Alvearium Gin is made from pure honey and designed for indulgence. Triple distilled it has a luxuriously smooth, velvety texture that is directly derived from honey.
Perfectly balanced by a botanical profile featuring hints of aromatic spices and citrus, Alvearium Gin offers a clean, refreshing finish and a delicate, lingering warmth.
Turning every occasion into celebration when served deliciously cold. Embodying a beehive, Alvearium Gin is the most holistically sustainable gin in the world.

Our Meadery and Distillery
Our distillery is built on a foundation of sustainability, utilizing solar energy, hydroelectric power and gas for heating to ensure efficiency and reliability, even during load-shedding. Advanced water management practices, including a closed-loop cooling system and grey water recycling, further conserve resources. We minimize waste by composting botanical by-products and recycling materials like glass, all while maintaining eco-friendly production processes that reduce our carbon footprint and support a sustainable future.
Community Collaboration in Zambia
Zambian Meadery’s commitment to sustainability and community development is strengthened by our support of the responsible sourcing of wild honey from the Miombo woodlands. While empowering local beekeepers with economic opportunities, our efforts promote biodiversity and ecological balance, ensuring a positive, lasting impact for future generations.

Defining Alvearium’s Sustainability

Winner of International Sustainability Award 2025!
We’re honoured to announce that Alvearium Gin has received the International Sustainability Award 2025 from the prestigious Luxury Lifestyle Awards.
This recognition affirms our purpose-driven approach: creating a spirit that doesn’t just taste exceptional but is also anchored in ethical, ecological, and cultural regeneration. Distilled from mead made entirely of wild-foraged honey, Alvearium is produced off-grid using solar energy, closed-loop water systems, and zero-waste composting.
At its heart, Alvearium is about more than gin. It’s about forest preservation, the livelihoods of Zambian honey harvesters, and the quiet power of working in rhythm with the land. This award celebrates that vision—and the extraordinary ecosystems and communities that make each bottle possible.
